About Me
Education, credentials, and experience are an important part of selecting a Counselor. So, I tell you all about that below. But, I think most clients want to know "What are you really like? How are you going to be in therapy? Will you be a good fit for me?" Here are a few things about my style:

  • I am an interactive therapist. This means, I will listen and hear your concerns, but I will also challenge you to think differently, try new behaviors, and consider ideas that may push you outside of your comfort zone. I will engage you and ask you to do some hard work. I do not sit quietly through our sessions.
  • I combine psychoeducation and talk therapy. This means I'll strive to provide current research and factual information to you about your concerns. I may recommend you do some of your own research through reading, watching videos, or exploring other content. When appropriate, I'll use humor, candid feedback, and sexual imagery during our sessions.
  • I am passionate about helping you to reach your therapy goals. I want to hear from you when something is not working. I value your feedback.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). These credentials mean I have completed more than 3000 hours of supervised counseling after earning a graduate degree and have passed a comprehensive examination. I completed a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Oakland University, with a specialty in Wellness Counseling. At the same time, I earned a Certificate in Complementary Medicine and Wellness through the Department of Health Sciences. I also hold a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in Telecommunication and Psychology.
I completed The University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program in Sex Therapy. This program is a 165 hour, year-long education program addressing  psychological, environmental, hormonal, medical and relational facets of sexual health. I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist which means I have completed  rigorous education, clinical hours, and supervision standards focused on the treatment of sexual health issues.

I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, an approach effective in reducing post-traumatic stress symptoms. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional through IATP. Ongoing education is important to me. I strive to be informed about the latest research and best practices in counseling. I have completed several hours of continuing education on a variety of counseling topics.
